No, Epicurean products are maintenance free, and many users do not use wax or mineral oil for the life of their product. 

If one wishes to refresh a cutting board surface, one may sand a dry board lightly with 220-grit sandpaper and additionally apply the Epicurean Board Butter or mineral oil, which will give the board a deep, rich look. The Epicurean Board Butter or mineral oil is not a necessary application to preserve the integrity of the board; the reason for application would be to deepen the color of the board or refresh the surface if desired.
